RICHARD BOOKBINDER
GENERAL PARTNER AND PORTFOLIO MANAGER OF THE ROEBLING FUND

212-332-2840

real audio - 28.8k

Who is this guy?Richard Bookbinder
How long has he been at his job? Richard began his investment career in the 1970s in the municipal bond arena and last year began The Roebling Fund. It is a hedge fund and as such is NOT an open-end mutual fund like those most of us are familiar with. An investment into a hedge fund is an investment into a private investment partnership and requires piles of money -- like hundreds of thousands of dollars.
How has the fund performed?Hard to say. Because hedge funds are private investments and not registered or regulated by the SEC, there isn't the kind of research or performance data available on them that there are on open- and closed-end mutual funds. Having said that, Richard tells me that as of Nov. 20, the fund wad up and beating all the major indices handsomely.
Anything interesting about him?Sure. He's a runner and enjoys playing tennis and is very active in his community. "I've coached every level of sports for my kids which would include baseball, basketball and we've just completed soccer," says Bookbinder.
When was the interview conducted?Nov. 20, 2000
