The real estate industry is highly cyclical, and the value of securities issued by companies doing business in that sector may fluctuate widely. The real estate industry - and, therefore, the performance of the fund - is highly sensitive to economic conditions, interest rates, property taxes, overbuilding, real estate values and changes in rental income.
Sector funds may experience greater short-term price volatility than more diversified equity funds, and are most suitable for the aggressive portion of an investment portfolio.
