STATE STREET RESEARCH AWARDED NEW INSTITUTIONAL BUSINESS FROM SUNAMERICA



BOSTON, MA, December 13, 2001- State Street Research & Management Companyannounced today that it has been selected to provide subadvisory investmentmanagement for SunAmerica's Focused International Portfolio. This newbusiness was awarded to the State Street Research, which manages theConcentrated International Equity Portfolio.

SunAmerica Mutual Funds announced the launch of the SunAmerica FocusedInternational Portfolio earlier this month. This new fund offers investors30 international stock selections from three investment managers: StateStreet Research, MFS and Harris Associates. Each investment managerindependently selects up to 10 stocks per portfolio, purchasing stocks ofany market size or capitalization, focusing on large-capitalizationsecurities from any developed market outside of the United States.

SunAmerica Mutual Funds employs a rigorous approach to selecting investmentadvisers. The firm conducted both quantitative and qualitative evaluationsof each investment manager's stock selection process and specificallyanalyzed their research and analytical capabilities to identify advisers whohave outperformed relevant indexes and peers in both rising and fallingmarkets.* SunAmerica Mutual Funds also performs risk/reward analyses andongoing reviews of advisers to ensure that they meet the fund's mandate andhigh investment standards.
