
BARBARA MCKENNA JOINS STATE STREET RESEARCH FIXED INCOME TEAM
BOSTON, MA, September 24, 2001--State Street Research & Management Company
hired Barbara McKenna, CFA, as Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager and
Director of Corporate Bond Portfolio Strategy for the firm's Fixed Income
department. Mark Marinella and Dan Strelow, Co-Chief Investment Officers
for the Fixed Income Department, made the announcement.
Ms. McKenna's investment responsibilities cover a wide variety of
product types including Core Fixed Income, Core Plus Fixed Income,
Intermediate Duration, and Structured Accounts. She is a member of the
Corporate Sector Team that has responsibility for driving strategy within
the investment grade corporate sector in all portfolios, including
determining appropriate industry and security weightings. The ultimate goal
of these decisions is to contribute to top-down sector allocation decisions
and to outperform the corporate sector of the market.
"Barbara is an accomplished portfolio manager whose skills will
prove to be a great asset to the fixed income department," Marinella said.

Ms. McKenna has 16 years of investment experience. Most recently she was a
Short Maturity manager and Director for Standish, Ayer & Wood where she was
responsible for more than $3 billion in assets. Prior to that, Ms. McKenna
was a portfolio manager and Vice President for the Fixed Income Group at
BayBank Investment Management, Inc.,
Ms. McKenna holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston
College, an M.S. in Finance from Boston College and is a CFA.
